First Fridays Long Beach will be host to the first ever Long Beach Innovation Week Kick Off. The official programming will be held inside of the EXPO Arts Center, however the arts and music will be filling the business corridor all evening long. First Fridays was originally started as way to build community relationships with local businesses through art. Small businesses on Atlantic Avenue in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of culturally progressive and diverse Long Beach host local artists, with mediums ranging from paint to mixed use art, and musical acts. Music and art line the streets as thousands of people peruse the shops, dine at the restaurants, and enjoy the sounds and people First Fridays brings together.
The Innovation Week Kick Off Event will be housed in the EXPO Arts Center, in the North Room, and will include a presentation by the Long Beach I-Team, including an overview of how the creative sector of Long Beach is helping to drive the economic development of the city, and will end with a private mixer (art in the making) held in the "Allery." (#Allery)
