The La Kretz Innovation Campus (LKIC) provides startups, inventors, engineers, and scientists with  world-class rapid prototyping labs and shops. As part of a fully renovated 60,000 square foot building located at 5th and Hewitt Streets in the dynamic Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the Campus comprises 3.2 acres owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

The facility features offices, conference rooms, R&D labs, advanced prototyping facility for pre-manufacturing work (supported by funding from the U.S.Economic Development Administration), training center and event space all under one roof. The Campus is directly adjacent to the new Arts District Park and will offer surface parking with a 175 kilowatt photovoltaic solar canopy, greywater recycling, bioswale, and microgrid systems all in the heart of LA’s Cleantech Corridor.

The event will begin with a presentation on the design process for the Prototyping Labs and Shops and a discussion on what goes into the selection of equipment, layout of the space, and process for commissioning.

The presentation will be followed by a tour, which  will walk through the LKIC labs and shops, focusing on workflow for rapid advanced prototyping, while mentioning equipment required to accomplish such workflows.

Note: All of the above equipment, resources and test equipment are on-site at LKIC under one roof to provide users with world-class rapid advanced prototyping resources for their Cleantech startups.

About LACI

Los Angeles has launched its cleantech business incubator to accelerate development of cleantech start-ups by offering flexible office space, CEO coaching and mentoring, and access to a growing network of experts and capital. LACI is the business equivalent of baseball’s farm system: it identifies local talent, nurtures it, and helps it get to market, resulting in more jobs and a bigger green economy in Los Angeles.

About APROE

APROE is a San Francisco-based design and engineering firm specializing in two distinct but related areas: (1) machine shop set up and design; and (2) the design and development of mechanical and mechatronic prototypes.  In our prototyping division, we work with companies and entrepreneurs to turn innovative concepts into fully designed models, and then make the models in our prototyping shop.  In our machine shop division, we provide a range of consulting, design, and engineering services to help a client go from concept to a fully-functioning machine shop.  Since we have our own shop and develop prototypes, we uniquely understand what a functioning prototype shop needs.
